FROM THE PRESIDENTS DESK
Thank - You
to all Swannies for the card wishing me well, thank you also for the
emails and telephone calls. Yes a scary time and a reminder to 'let go'!
Welcome
to our new members Taia, Christophe, Gil and Adrian.
DCP
- Since 1 July 2007 we have achieved 2/10 goals on our club success
programme. Most of our new committee attended club officer training =
1st goal and our new members = 2nd goal.
Our 3rd goal is
easily obtainable by paying our semi annuals on time ie before 30
September 2007, and then it's plain sailing through our speech manuals
towards the next seven!
Club Speech
Contests -
congratulations to all participants in our recent club comps. As the
last contestant in the Table Topics I missed hearing the other
contestants. From the Judges' comments I gather a lot of fun was had
with the question: Once upon a rainy day....
I enjoyed all the
humorous speeches though I'm not sure whether I will take Gerry's advice
at my next job interview nor do I fancy a pillion ride with Taia on her
new 750cc hot pink Suzuki motor bike!
The first two
place getters go through to the next heat - the Area Comps to be held at
our club room on 13 October 2007.
Resignation
- our heart felt and warm wishes go to Lisa who has tendered her
resignation as VPM and her TM membership. Lisa informed me she has been
unwell for some time and under pressure from all her work and personal
commitments. Unfortunately for us Swannies we were down the priority
list in what I hope is, the short term.
